Since the moment I hit puberty (which was somewhere around 11 years old) I’ve had acne. I remember looking in the mirror and picking with my first bump thinking “What the F’ is this?” Well, that little bump turned out to be the bane of my beauty existence for the next several years. About two years later, acne was so prominent on my skin that I could connect my dots to form a picture. Not cool at all.
Over the next several years, I tried everything to clear my skin. This included all of the stuff in drugstores, Proactive, Tazorac, and some other stuff my dermatologist prescribed. And though some of them worked well enough to remove the cystic bumps, nothing worked on the smaller, more populous pimples that made their home on my T-Zone.
Finally, after years of struggling I have found Black Soap (or African Shea Butter Soap). This stuff is amazing! It works way better than every prescription drug I have ever tried, better than Proactive and of course, better than the drugstore stuff. After about a month of use, my skin looked phenomenal. And though the soap did over dry my skin at first, within a month I was totally used to it and my moisture balance came back. One thing I really love about Black soap is that my skin never broke-out more before it was healed (which is common with most prescription acne medications). Instead, I saw a steady reduction of pimples. And this, I couldn’t be more happy about. No more zits for me!
My skin isn’t completely perfect though. I still have acne scars all over my face. But with a little bit of foundation, that is totally not a problem. I’m just happy to be done with the zits!
